“Patient-centered care requires a full engagement and a trusted alliance between an individual and a care team … where the best goals for the individual — or the best ways to meet those goals — are a negotiated conversation.” – Patricia Flatley Brennan, R.N., Ph.D., Project HealthDesign Director

From its inception, Project HealthDesign has sought to bridge the gap between patient experience and clinician expertise in order to improve health and health care. Because health care and health IT typically attend to providers and their needs, we often find ourselves promoting “patient-centered” ideas: patient-centered health data, a patient-centered health information ecosystem or patient-centered communication, to name a few.
